Chief Dennis Nwankwo Nnabuke

Chief Dennis Nwankwo Nnabuke was born at Iyanba Umudim Nnewi on 11th March 1931. He attended St. Peter Clever Catholic School Okwuani Nnewi. Thereafter he served as a Clerk under the defunct UNITED UMUDIM TRADING COMPANY at Onitsha 1952- 1954.
ENLISTMENT INTO POLICE FORCE: He enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as Recruit Constable in the year 1956. He served at various State Police Commands including Imo State, Enugu State, Lagos State, Democratic Republic of Congo and Force Headquarters. He retired in the year 1991 after 35 years of service with the rank of Superintendent of Police. A certificate of “Exemplary” Conduct which is the highest assessment grading in Civil Service of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was presented to him by the Inspector General of Police.
CHAIRMAN UMUDIM NNEWI FAMILY MEETING: While in service, he was elected the Chairman of Umudim Nnewi Family Meeting Lagos from 1984 – 1988.
NATIONAL PRESIDENT UMUDIM NNEWI DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION
In 1986, he founded what is today known as UMUDIM NNEWI DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION with its branches in most capital cities of Nigeria. He was elected the National President of the Association. The post he held for 15 years from 1988-2002.
OBI UMUDIM NNEWI:
The present Obi Umudim Nnewi building was commenced and completed during his tenure of office, as the National President.
CHAIRMAN NNEWI YOUTH LEAGUE LAGOS BRANCH
In the year 1996, he was elected the President General of Nnewi Youth League from 1996 – 2001. He thus became the President General of N.Y.L and also National President of Umudim Nnewi Development Association concurrently.
APPOINTMENTS: After his retirement, he was appointed as follows:

- Member, Board of Trustees, Uzoka-Ora Nnewi
- Member, Board of Trustees Nnewi Youth League
- Member, Board of Trustees Education Trust Fund, Umudim Nnewi Development Association Lagos Branch.
- Patron, Umudim Nnewi Development Association
- Patron, Inyaba Community Development Union Umudim Nnewi
- Patron, Ogbe Inyaba welfare Union Lagos
- Patron, Blessed Father Iwene Tansi Prayer Movement, SS Mulumba & David Parish, Lawanson, Lagos.
AWARDS:
- In 1988: Merit Award from Umudim Nnewi Development Association, Lagos Branch
- In 1988: Merit Award from Umudim Nnewi Youth League
- In 1998: decorated with ANAEDO SOCIAL CLUB OF NIG. “MEDAL”
- In June 2007: He traveled on Holy Pilgrimage to Jerusalem, Rome Cascia and Assisi, in company of his wife, Ifeyinwa Nnabuike.
